SMPD IS LOOKING FOR A DENTAL ASSISTANT:

Education Requirement: High School Diploma
Licensure & Training: CDA preferred, on the job training permissible
Radiology Certification through DANB
CPR Certification

Specific Duties for Assistant:
· Assist the doctors with all aspects of preventative, restorative, sedation dentistry.
· Clean/disinfect rooms between patients and at the end of the day
· Tell-Show-Do/ with all patients
· The ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with children and their families
· Review/updated medical history to ensure completeness
· Maintain operatory/sterilization area/lab
· Take and develop radiographs
· Take, pour, and trim models
· Assistants will be permitted to perform other duties in accordance with the rules set forth by the Maine State Board of Dental Examiners

Duties:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Take and develop dental x-rays and other medical imaging
- Maintain patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic or Eaglesoft
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
Experience:
- Previous experience in dental assisting preferred
- Knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Epic, CAD, or Eaglesoft
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
