The Town of Carmel is currently seeking candidates for a full time (35 hours per week) Deputy Town Clerk. Carmel has a population of approx. 3,000 and is a bedroom community to the Greater Bangor Economic Region. The Deputy Town Clerk will also serve as the Deputy Tax Collector, Deputy Treasurer and Deputy Registrar of Voters. This is varied clerical and secretarial work in assisting the Town Clerk in the collection and record-keeping of various taxes, fees and vital records. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; issuance of and receiving payments for certified copies of vital records, marriage licenses, dog licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, recreational vehicle registrations, motor vehicle registrations, and collecting payments of property taxes, lien process, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, answering phone calls, conducting voter registration, absentee voting and assistance in administering all State and Municipal Elections. Prior experience in a municipal office setting and familiarity with municipal TRIO software is a plus but individuals with other related office or accounting experience are encouraged to apply. This position is performed in accordance with Town Ordinances / State of Maine and Federal Laws with a high degree of independence and supervision from the Town Manager.
