We are seeking a Technical Writer.
How You Will Contribute
Develop, produce, and maintain the technical literature necessary for distributors and customers of Douglas Dynamics to operate and service the products sold by Douglas Dynamics. Provide support for other non-technical documents, such as bulletins and newsletters.

How You'll Make a Difference
- Develop new literature or make revisions to existing literature which reflect changes in Douglas Dynamics' product designs; follow Standard Operating Procedures when preparing literature.
- Maintain a file of all literature and revisions, including the department masters, red-lined documents, illustrations, and approvals.
- Collaborate and provide support to all Douglas Dynamics divisions on literature development and maintenance projects. This includes editing and revising content for online training videos, classroom sales and service presentations, and job aids.
- Maintain technical skill on desktop publishing systems and electronic file storage and make recommendations for improved software, procedure modifications, capital improvements, etc.
- Provide literature development support for other departments such as Production and Human Resources which may include proofreading and copy editing, written text, graphics, or photo support.
- Provide ECN support for ongoing configuration changes of part status (Active, To Be Obsolete, or Obsolete) or Bill of Material Changes.
- Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
- Work in a safe manner; report unsafe work situations and incidents to supervisor.
- Follow Douglas Dynamics’ rules and procedures regarding work and conduct.
What This Role Needs
EDUCATION: Minimum of two year college or technical school degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Detail oriented. Able to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Experience in writing technical documents, manuals, etc. for end users. Experience proofreading and editing for grammar, punctuation, and structure. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, volume, etc. Able to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to work independently with a minimum of direction and supervision.
At least one year experience in desktop publishing with proficiency in InDesign, Word, Excel required; Illustrator and Photoshop desirable.
