RESPONSIBILITIES
- Community policing and building positive relationships with residents.
- Investigating crimes and assisting with case resolution, including gathering evidence, witness interviews, booking and required report completion.
- Traffic enforcement, patrolling neighborhoods, and answering calls and complaints
- Use radar to control traffic speed in community and issue citations.
- Responding to emergencies and incidents within the community.
- Participating in community events and outreach programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of the buildings, roads and infrastructure of the Town, and surrounding areas.
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of police work.
- Ability to act professionally in high pressure situations.
- Ability to analyze quickly and subjectively to determine course of action.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Ability to develop skills with firearms and motor vehicles.
- High School Diploma required, and formal training in Law Enforcement preferred. Consideration will be based on a combination of training and experience. o Expected to attend and complete the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
- Required: Valid Driver’s License.
