Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Per Diem
Maine Dentistry | Portland, ME | Fridays, per diem
About us
Maine Dentistry is a privately owned, doctor-led practice with offices in Portland, Gray, and Auburn. We are adding a Friday surgical day at our Portland office, with a visiting surgeon on site for implant, full-arch, and All-on-X cases. We are looking for a CRNA to provide anesthesia for those cases on a per diem basis.
The role
You will provide office-based anesthesia for scheduled surgical cases at our Portland location on Fridays, working alongside the visiting surgeon and our Portland clinical team.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing medical histories and completing pre-anesthesia assessments, including confirming NPO status, ASA classification, and airway evaluation
- Administering IV moderate sedation, deep sedation, or general anesthesia as indicated and as permitted under the practice's anesthesia permit
- Placing and managing IV access, monitoring the patient throughout the procedure, and documenting per standard of care
- Managing recovery and discharge, including post-operative instructions to the patient and escort
- Maintaining the anesthesia record in the patient chart (Dentrix)
- Confirming emergency equipment, oxygen, and reversal and emergency drugs are present and in date before the first case
- Coordinating with the visiting surgeon on case sequencing, positioning, and expected chair time
- Participating in office emergency drills and reviewing the team's roles during a sedation event
Schedule
Fridays at our Portland office, generally longer surgical appointments rather than short procedures. Schedule details and case load will be discussed during the interview.
Compensation
$1,250-1,500 per day, DOE, paid as a 1099 independent contractor.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Maine RN license and APRN authorization
- Current national certification as a CRNA (NBCRNA) in good standing
- Current BLS and ACLS certification, plus PALS if treating patients under 18
- DEA registration and Maine controlled substance registration as applicable
- Current professional liability coverage, with Maine Dentistry named as certificate holder
- Experience providing anesthesia for oral surgery or in an office-based setting strongly preferred
- Comfortable working with a small clinical team and coaching staff on monitoring and recovery
