The Town of Damariscotta Police Department, a MLEAP-certified agency, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Reserve Police Officer. This part-time role offers a valuable opportunity to serve the community while gaining hands-on law enforcement experience in a professional, accredited department.
Reserve Officers work alongside full-time staff to maintain public safety and community trust. Responsibilities mirror those of Patrol Officers and include enforcing traffic laws, conducting patrols, responding to calls for service, issuing citations and warnings, assisting in investigations, and participating in court proceedings. Officers may also provide aid during emergencies and help foster a safe and secure environment.
Selected candidates will complete a Field Training Officer (FTO) program and receive ongoing training. Reserve Officers are considered first for full-time openings, with the exception of highly qualified blue pin candidates.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21
- High school diploma or GED, College education preferred.
- Valid Maine driver’s license
- Minimum Maine Green Pin certification (Blue Pin or retired/active Blue Pin officers preferred and given priority)
Additional Information:
- Pay is commensurate with experience
- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Opportunities for paid outside details at time-and-a-half
- Candidates will be expected to successfully complete a thorough background check and if needed, polygraph and psychological examinations.
