Job Summary
As an RN-Med Surg, you’ll deliver attentive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical setting. You’ll assess patient needs, administer medications and treatments, monitor changes, and coordinate care with the clinical team. Your work supports safe, informed care throughout each patient’s stay.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients, monitor vital signs, recognize changes in condition, and document findings in electronic health records (EHRs).
- Administer medications, support intravenous (IV) infusion and insertion, provide catheter and ostomy care, and follow infection-control and aseptic techniques.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluation, specimen collection, pain management, and care planning with the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families, support discharge planning, and maintain privacy in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Respond to urgent changes using appropriate emergency procedures and escalate concerns promptly.
Skills
- Required: Registered nurse licensure appropriate to the work location, nursing knowledge, patient assessment, medication administration, medical-surgical or acute care experience, and clear medical documentation.
- Preferred: Hospital or inpatient experience; telemetry, critical care, emergency medicine, dialysis, long-term care, hospice, geriatrics, or home care experience.
- Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or other electronic medical record (EMR) and EHR systems is helpful.
- Additional relevant skills may include triage, IV infusion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, tube feeding, catheterization, airway management, and basic life support (BLS).
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, and applicable coding or documentation standards is valued.
Pay: $60.00 - $72.00 per hour
