Thatcher Brook is growing and has an opening for a Full-Time DSP to work with our day program from 8:30-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Someone who is able to apply methods to support lives in a deeper way than usual service delivery systems.
Direct Support Professionals inspire individuals with differing abilities in their development of basic living and social skills both at our center and in the community while helping clients foster their capacities in order to improve and better their daily lives and experiences. This position requires travel in the York county area.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, guardians and care takers. Develop client’s basic living skills (e.g., social, life and coping skills) through instruction and encouragement.
- Assist and document the development and implementation of long and short-term goals for clients that support creating enriching experiences for their daily living.
- Develop and maintain a positive and effective relationship with clients, families, staff, administration, case management, and other service providers and assist in coordinating with any and all their needs concerning clients.
- Support behavior and health management plans for clients as needed
- Create and maintain a safe and supportive environment as well as professional demeanor.
- Transport service recipients to and from activities
- Serve as a good role model to service recipient.
Requirements:

- Resilience along with ability to assess situations
- Willing to submit to background checks
- High School Diploma or GED
- DSP and CRMA Certification or willingness to complete training which will be provided by TBC.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance/registration
- Transport service recipients to and from activities in your personal vehicle or company vehicle when available, in a safe and timely manner
