Job Description
The Systems Integration organization supports the development and implementation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) system changes on the DDG-51 Destroyer Program and DDG(x) Next Generation Destroyer programs.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Act as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for significant HM&E system changes.
- Develop and process DDG 51 Class Engineering Change Proposals (ECP’s) in accordance with schedule constraints.
- Ensure that all developed ECP’s meet applicable Functional Engineering and Navy specification requirements.
- Interface with the Navy, Navy Contractors, Class Design, Shipbuilder (BIW & HII) Change Management, and Functional Engineering in resolving technical issues and developing appropriate correspondence.
- Provide support to Planning for development of accurate implementation plans.
- Provide support to Estimating for development of accurate cost estimates.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing for the resolution of issues.
- Provide technical leadership for all assigned systems and related tasks.
- Develop and deliver presentations to management and/or Navy personnel.
- Develop ROM estimates for emergent HM&E Engineering work.
- Participate in and/or lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in early development of ship changes.
- Participate in and/or lead off-site meetings and other events occasionally.
- Head up special projects as assigned.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is Required.
- Engineer II - 2 years’ minimum experience Required.
- Engineer III - 3 years’ minimum experience Required.
Required/Preferred Experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize, plan, and execute projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Highly motivated, strong attention to detail with proven ability to work independently.
- WINDOWS, WINDOWS software, and MS Office products operating skills are required.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
- Ability to solve and explain complex technical issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work multiple priorities simultaneously, and to completion.
- Familiar with Requirements Definition & Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software (CAMEO).
- Experience with Naval Ship System Design.
- CAD skills are desired.
