Job Description
- Manage an experienced benefits team that is responsible for health, welfare, retirement and leave management.
- Manage day-to-day operations of high-volume benefits department including administration, walk-in services and call center.
- Manage vendors (health, retirement, and leave management) in order to maximize benefit value to BIW and its employees.
- Review and interpret health care data to assist in decisions related to vendor management.
- Oversee the communications to employees related to benefits (timeline, content development, effective messaging and delivery).
- Represent benefits in union negotiations, including but not limited to, document preparation, responding to union request for information and serving as benefits liaison at negotiations.
- Collaborate on benefits suite offerings with union leadership to promote quality and cost awareness, education, and consumerism.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Economics, or a health care field is required.
Required/Preferred Experience
- Five (5) years of related human resources experience required.
- Three to five (3-5) years of benefits administration experience in health, welfare, retirement, and leave management is required, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role with direct reports is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to interact in a positive and approachable manner with all levels of personnel.
- Ability to analyze and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of employee health and welfare issues.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and effective in leading a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, ensure team meets project requirements and deliverables while meeting deadlines throughout the scope of the project are required.
- Fully knowledgeable about HIPAA and other confidentiality laws regulating healthcare data is required.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required.
- Flexibility to adjust work tasks and work schedule as needed to accomplish objectives is required.
- Must be able to work onsite in order to effectively manage a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $138,000.00 per year
