The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a Director of Marketing.Under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Marketing is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the university’s marketing efforts, including direct supervision of all marketing services team members and the assignment of their duties. The Director of Marketing works with offices across campus to conceptualize, plan, and manage the annual marketing needs of the institution—with priority given to traditional admissions and YourPace marketing efforts—in support of targeted recruitment and overarching marketing goals. The Director of Marketing oversees: paid advertising, digital marketing, and all related analytics; development of creative materials and content that positively impact the university’s mission, goals, strategic objectives, and constituency relations in alignment with the university’s strategic plan; and development and implementation of the institution’s strategic marketing plan.
Work priorities may shift from day to day based on the needs of the institution and requests from outside the University. Remote, hybrid, and in person work locations will be considered and determined in consultation with the successful candidate. Training and other events may require travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The direct supervisor will determine if the roles and responsibilities of the position can be efficiently and successfully met exclusively online or must be on location without significantly compromising teamwork, collaborations, and partnerships. Work locations and schedules will be determined during the onboarding process and periodic reviews will identify potential changes to remote work options.
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range for this 12 month position is $55,000-$62,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Key Responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Serves as a key member of the Marketing and Communications office and leads a team of marketing services professionals on projects related to paid advertising, digital media, and analytics that effectively market, brand, and communicate UMPI’s mission to a wide variety of audiences. This campuswide work requires considerable judgment, initiative, and creativity.
- Manages day-to-day activities and duties of the marketing services team—including Digital Content Specialists, contracted and external creative professionals, and student workers—and coordinates the work product, including project calendars, policies and procedures, and quality control, to ensure that timelines, approvals, and budgets are met.
- Ensures industry best practices and outcomes while overseeing the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the institution’s strategic marketing plan, including short- and long-range marketing goals and objectives, and alignment with the institution’s enrollment management plan.
- Designs integrated marketing strategies with targeted audiences in mind, builds creative briefs, implements marketing campaigns, and leads optimization efforts.
- Conducts ongoing marketing research and analysis and uses this data in support of marketing and brand objectives.
- Oversees the production of marketing and promotional materials, in collaboration with the creative services team and/or coordination with outside vendors (photographers, videographers, and other content creators). Facilitates ad placement as necessary. Works closely with Admissions in particular on recruitment materials and communication efforts.
- Commits to organizational improvement by identifying opportunities to improve and recommending possible alternatives for a situation.
- Works effectively and cooperatively with--and serves as an industry resource for—members of the office, UMPI administration, the campus community, and external clients and customers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Credentials, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in marketing or a related area.
- Minimum 7 years of professional marketing experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in executing enterprise-level marketing campaigns, digital marketing campaigns, digital media strategies, and working with teams of creative professionals.
- Skills in Google Analytics, CRM systems, and web CMS platforms.
- Excellent writing, proof-reading, communication, time management, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Portfolio of previous work that demonstrates this ability is required.
For remote work, proof of a stable, reliable internet connection of not less than 25 mpbs is required. Hotspots are not acceptable for this position. Annual completion of a Remote Work Agreement Form is also required.
Preferred Credentials, Skills and Abilities
- 7 years of experience in marketing and branding a university.
- Expert-level skills in digital marketing and analytics.
- Experience using technical and organizational tools to foster a collaborative environment.
- Working knowledge of AP style. Experience with WordPress.
