Summary:
Tremson Corporation is seeking a skilled Forestry equipment operator to join our team. We specialize in landclearing for large scale commercial projects as well as smaller challenging projects that require specialized machinery and skill.
Location:
Tremson is based out of Brewster, NY and takes on projects in the greater tristate area of NY, CT, and NJ.
Relocation to the area is required. Tremson can provide relocation assistance and temporary housing to help a successful candidate start. Specifics of relocation assistance will be determined in the interview process before final hiring.
Duties:
- Operate heavy forestry equipment (e.g. Skidder, Feller Buncher, Log Loader, Harvester, Excavator, Chipper) as appropriate for each project.
- Perform road side work, excavation, lifting work, site clean-up, etc.
- Perform chainsaw felling operations, including directional felling, limbing, and bucking as needed.
- Perform onsite required equipment repairs/maintenance as needed.
- General forestry labor, as necessary and appropriate.
Requirements:
- Must be willing to relocate.
- Must have good understanding and knowledge of electrical over hydraulics functions in mechanical equipment.
- Must be able to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and perform daily maintenance to equipment.
- Must be able to operate a chainsaw.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have three (3) years of referenced experience as a fellerbuncher and/or skidder operator.
- Must be in good health and physical condition and be able/willing to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, understand, interpret and execute site plans for tree removal issued by forester, landowner and/or employer.
- Must be able to exercise proper felling techniques and promptly determine the most beneficial selection of cutting lengths.
- Must abide by all employer, landowner and OSHA regulations as they relate to forestry industry.
Preferred:
- General understanding and knowledge of tree species preferred.
- Experience running a crew as site foreman or supervisor.
- Experience operating horizontal grinders or large chippers.
- Experience and familiarity with a variety of machines to include but not limited to, fellerbuncher, skidder, grinder, chipper, excavator, etc.
Pay:
- Hourly rate paid weekly
- Base pay $35-$60 - based on experience
- Union rates and Prevailing wage jobs up to $90/hr - Job dependent
- Pay based on experience and job location, prevailing wage.
