Job Summary: Acorn Engineering, Inc., a growing civil and environmental engineering firm based in Portland and Kingfield, Maine, is hiring for the 2025 Construction Season (May – November) with the goal of long-term, seasonal construction employment with Acorn. There are opportunities throughout the state of Maine and they may require overnight and weekend work.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Inspects and supervises construction.
- Complete daily inspection reports.
- Perform or coordinate inspection testing.
- Confirm general compliance with DOT standards and specifications.
- Review project plans and document Contractor compliance.
- Provide technical supervision and assistance to Resident Engineer.
- Direct field inspection support staff
- Prepare construction closeout documents.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 4 years highway inspection experience
- NETTCP paving certification required
- ACI concrete cert preferred
- Knowledge of Maine DOT standards.
- Valid driver’s license; daily use of candidate’s personal vehicle required. Mileage reimbursed.
- Overnight, overtime, and weekend work may be required.
