Job Summary
As a Cafe Team Member, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for our customers. You will work collaboratively with your team to enhance the overall dining experience while effectively handling transactions, of which tips are distributed weekly.
Duties
- Prepare and serve food and beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate the cash register, accurately processing customer transactions and handling cash with care.
- Assist customers with menu selections, providing recommendations and upselling when appropriate.
- Maintain cleanliness of the cafe area, including tables, counters, equipment, and restrooms, adhering to sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure all food safety standards are met by properly storing and handling food items.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
- Perform basic math calculations for cash handling and retail math tasks as needed.
- Sanitize work areas regularly to maintain a safe environment for both staff and customers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a quick service fast food restaurant or grocery store is preferred but not required.
- Basic math skills are essential for cash handling and transaction accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to help customers effectively.
- Experience with cash registers and cash handling procedures is a plus.
- A knowledge of food preparation is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude towards customer service.
