Job Purpose:
Responsible for the management and coordination of Island Connections’ Fundraising Events, as well as the implementation of volunteer recruitment efforts. Reports directly to the Executive Director.
30 hours per week. Holidays, 3 weeks PTO. $24/hr, potential to work from home 1-2 days per week.
Responsibilities:
Event Coordination
- Work with the Executive Director and other staff to set and maintain timelines for annual events.
- Work with the Executive Director to establish and maintain relationships with local businesses to enhance giving potential.
- Coordinate the details of all events, including the promotion and creation of flyers, cold calling businesses and volunteers, updating community calendars and social media; ensure that all staff and volunteers are adequately prepared to assist with events.
- Understand and adhere to event revenue and expense expectations set by the annual budget.
Volunteer Coordination
- Implement volunteer recruitment initiatives, understand the volunteer model and make suggestions for improvement.
- Train new volunteers on IC best practices, ride scheduling software, etc.; train volunteers on operation of wheelchair accessible van.
- Serve on the Volunteer Committee.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, and perform the intake process of new Neighbors as needed.
Additional Duties
- Provide Administrative support as needed, as well as backup support for the Transportation Coordinator.
- Work collaboratively with the Transportation Coordinator to support daily operations.
- Assist with mailings, special projects, and fundraising.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience preferred with non-profit organizations, fundraising events and/or working with volunteers
- Upbeat personality, compassion and empathy, motivated, takes initiative with the ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products; experience with database management and social media platforms
- Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse group of individuals
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry; organizational skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
