We are seeking a SPED Pre-K Educational Technician. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge of early childhood curriculum, strategies, and classroom management. The candidate will support the classroom teacher in building student school readiness by helping to create a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment. A working knowledge of the Maine Early Learning Development Standards and experience with the OWL or PreK for ME curricula, Teaching Strategies Gold and Second Step curriculum, are preferred.
The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young children, bring an equity-oriented approach to their instruction, and will hold all students to high expectations, recognizing that some may need more support to meet those expectations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with families experiencing poverty, and with students and families for whom English is a second or third language, and/or interest in working in a classroom that includes students with identified special needs. We seek a teammate who is positive, collaborative and is an effective communicator, who will contribute actively to both the classroom and the larger Lyseth and PPS communities.
All Public PreK programs in Maine adhere to Maine Chapter 124 as their guidance document.
Certifications: At a minimum, an Educational Technician II Authorization from the Maine DOE who obtains a Level 4 status on the Maine Roads to Quality Registry within 3 years. Educational Technician III preferred.
