The Director of Youth Housing & Homelessness Prevention position supports our Step Up young adult transitional housing, Merrymeeting Support Collaborative youth outreach homelessness prevention programs, and develop a new Targeted Case Management program at Midcoast Youth Center & Skatepark to expand our capacity to serve youth.
This Director of Youth Housing & Homelessness Prevention is a management position of a consultative, supervisory, and technical nature. The Director of Youth Housing & Homelessness Prevention contributes to the accomplishment of MYC’s mission through the leadership and oversight of the Step Up, Merrymeeting Support Collaborative and Targeted Case Management positions including oversight of programming, supervision of staff, and administrative coordination of the programs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage youth housing and homelessness prevention programs, ensuring effective implementation and adherence to best practices.
- Supervise staff and provide leadership, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques in case management to support youth.
- Maintain accurate records and reports using Microsoft Office tools, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
- Develop and maintain Targeted Case Management program at MYC
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in program management, with at least 2 years in a Youth leadership role.
- Proven experience in youth development, community programs, or a related field.
- Strong background in budget management, strategic planning, and staff supervision.
- Experience working with Outreach services, background in Children and/or Adult Case Management as well as adult homelessness, mental health issues, substance use, and trauma, required.
- Experience in housing and homelessness prevention, required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of State of Maine Targeted Case Management
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Solution-focused, with a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
- Strong and diverse knowledge, including fluency in trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing,
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize effectively.
- Demonstrated Microsoft Office and computer efficiency.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- MHRT/C Certificate
- Valid Maine Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain additional training/certifications as needed
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and handle stress effectively.
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 lbs.
- Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and training and for the need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients. A good driving record is required.
