Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on public facilities, roads, parks, and other infrastructure components to ensure safety and proper functioning
- Operate various tools and equipment including mowers, drills, and hand tools to complete maintenance tasks efficiently
- Conduct inspections of infrastructure assets using devices such as ohmmeters (used for measuring electrical resistance) to troubleshoot issues
- Assist in installing, repairing, or replacing public utilities such as streetlights, signage, and drainage systems
- Support emergency response efforts by clearing debris, managing traffic control setups, and assisting with repairs during adverse weather conditions
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections conducted for accountability and reporting purposes
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while adhering to safety protocols
Skills
- Proficiency in operating basic hand tools and machinery used in public works maintenance ,commercial Drivers license and/or heavy equipment operation experience a plus but will train the right candidate.
- Ability to read technical diagrams and interpret work orders clearly
- Experience with electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters is highly desirable
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions including long hours plowing snow.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues effectively
