- Starting pay is $34.08 per hour
- $2,000 Sign-On Bonus
- $1000 Annual tool/work boot reimbursement of approved tools and/or steel toed shoes
What you will do:
- Perform Maine State Inspection of all METRO vehicles.
- Diagnosis trouble, disassemble engines, electrical and fuel systems, etc., and examine parts for defects and excessive wear including Forklifts and Sweeper.
- Perform tests, repairs, tune-ups, brake jobs, and other preventative maintenance.
- Recondition and replace parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
Minimum Requirements & Essential Aptitudes:
- Mechanic aptitude, problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of diesel engines, ability to read diagnostic equipment
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Maine State Inspection License (current or within 6 months of hire)
- CDL with (P) passenger & air brake endorsement (current or within 6 months of hire)
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language effectively
- Preferred: ASE Certifications, diesel technology training, automotive or heavy equipment experience
