Title: Accounting Technician

Augusta, Wells, Waterville, Bangor, and Calais, or South Portland, Auburn, and Presque Isle

Compensation: $20-$30/hour

Hours: 20-40 hour/week

Duration: 4 months to 1 year

The Maine Community College System (MCCS) desires to procure temporary accounting staff for its transition services office, created as part of its implementation of a new finance system. The MCCS is an instrumentality of the State of Maine and will engage under the terms of that agreement.

Description:

MCCS desires to train (if not otherwise already skilled) individuals to perform basic bookkeeping services at the system office and at select colleges of the MCCS using its new Anthology-branded finance system, which is built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and configured for higher education and MCCS-specific requirements. After training, the individuals under this engagement will work at the direction of a senior accountant who reports to the system CFO to perform basic accounting tasks, such as AP processing, procurement support, journal entries, and fixed asset accounting. Representative job description content used for hiring FTE are provided as a reference to guide the identification of candidates.

MCCS anticipates engaging approximately 6 individuals, who should be a mix (specifics to be determined) of full and part time availability. Hours may be flexible depending on the workloads. The work may be of a hybrid nature. Desired and preferred, but not required, work locations will likely include Augusta, Wells, Waterville, Bangor, and Calais. Others might include South Portland, Auburn, and Presque Isle if convenient to the candidate. Desired start dates for training are mid to late September, 2024.

Selected candidates will be asked to work for a period of not less than 4 months and as long as until June 30, 2025, subject to terms and conditions agreed upon by MCCS and staffing agency.
