General Manager – Established Pizza Restaurant (Portland, ME)
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, high-accountability General Manager to lead daily operations at a well-established, high-volume pizza restaurant. The GM is responsible for driving sales, controlling costs, developing staff, and ensuring every shift reflects our standards for quality, service, and cleanliness.
This is a leadership role for someone who takes ownership, leads from the front, and holds a team to high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead by example on the floor during peak hours
Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable
Coach, develop, and motivate team members
Recruit, interview, and hire staff in a timely manner
Build a positive, performance-driven culture
Daily Operations
Oversee all front and back of house operations
Ensure consistency in food quality, service, and cleanliness
Enforce opening and closing procedures
Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally
Maintain strong floor presence during busy periods
Financial Performance
Manage labor to target levels (goal ~30–32%)
Control food, paper, and waste costs
Monitor daily sales and adjust staffing accordingly
Drive sales through execution, upselling, and team focus
Scheduling & Labor Management
Create and post schedules at least 1 week in advance
Adjust staffing based on business trends
Minimize overtime and unnecessary labor hours
Ensure proper coverage for all shifts
Training & Development
Train Assistant GM and staff across all stations
Maintain consistent systems and operational standards
Develop shift leaders into stronger operators
Communication & Accountability
Provide weekly updates on sales, labor, and staffing
Communicate issues proactively and follow through
Maintain organization and consistency in daily operations
Qualifications
3+ years restaurant management experience (pizza or high-volume preferred)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Proven ability to manage labor and control costs
Hands-on operator (not just an office manager)
Reliable, organized, and accountable
