Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Leader and Supervisor to provide exceptional care for dogs and provide leadership for our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and the ability to read behavior, handle various dog breeds, and make compatible groups by behavior and size for play. This role involves ensuring the well-being of pets while they are here for the day, offering enrichment, companionship, exercise, rest, and paying specific attention to their individual needs as well as the needs of the play group and their person.
You will be responsible for providing leadership and training to new staff, teaching the finer nuances of boarding, day care, and shelter life. Be able to read and teach cues, and manage safe group interactions with your team.
You will be responsible for communication with owners and potential new daycare clients about the practice and their pets. You will follow the guidelines set up by the practice and help grow our offerings with the needs of our clients. You will help to market the service and staff appropriately for the daily client needs. This position is a part our practice leadership, you will be required to attend meetings and interact with hospital staff and be accountable for the success of the Department.
Duties
- Provide and teach daily care for pets, including mid day feedings if needed, walking when shy or unsure day care pets are with us.
- Ensure and teach the safety and comfort of pets by maintaining a clean and secure environment.
- Engage and teach engagement in playtime and exercise to keep pets physically active and mentally stimulated.
- Monitor and Teach pet behavior, reporting any concerns to the pet owner.
- Handle any emergency situations with calmness and efficiency, bringing to the hospitals attention when needed.
- Maintain clear communication with pet owners regarding their pet's status and any relevant updates.
- Make sure all vaccines, and fecals are up to date for day care, Shelter animals, and boarding guests.
- Checking emails for reservations, and managing drop off and discharges, and help with adoptions when asked.
- Ensure deposits are collected, club cards are kept up to date, and payments are made.
- Upsell other ancillary services, nail trims, grooming, etc.
Experience
- At least 4 years of a combination of previous animal care experiences in: pet sitting, animal handling, kennel work, shelter work, veterinary assisting, with a concentration in kennel and day care experience is mandatory to be considered for this position.
- Skills in veterinary assistance are highly valued and an asset to the job.
- Familiarity with dog training techniques or low stress animal restraint methods is mandatory.
- Ability to lift heavier animals when necessary, ensuring safe handling practices.
- Experience with kennel operations and in supervisory leadership role is mandatory.
- Fear Free and Low Stress techniques are preferred and encouraged.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
