Our client in Augusta, ME is seeking a dedicated Scrum Master to join their team remotely. This role focuses on facilitating Agile practices within a dynamic environment, supporting HR and IT stakeholders, and ensuring the successful delivery of Workday HRMS projects. The ideal candidate will serve as a servant leader, fostering continuous improvement and high-performing teams in a fast-paced, enterprise setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring adherence to Agile principles and Scrum practices.
- Support the team in delivering committed sprint work with a focus on quality, transparency, and predictability by tracking progress using Agile metrics such as velocity and burn-down charts.
- Coach team members on Agile best practices, fostering a collaborative, self-organizing, and high-performing environment.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders and team members on Agile roles, responsibilities, and expectations, promoting accountability and ownership.
- Identify, track, and remove impediments that impact team progress, escalating risks and issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with HR Product Owners and System Leads to ensure the backlog is well-defined, prioritized, and ready for sprint planning.
- Work with stakeholders and leadership to resolve issues outside the team’s control, ensuring clear communication of goals, scope, and product domain.
- Coordinate testing activities, including system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), aligning Agile delivery with Workday HRMS timelines.
- Lead retrospectives and drive actionable improvements across team processes, monitoring performance and encouraging innovation.
- Promote adoption of Workday HRMS best practices and functionality, supporting continuous learning and process optimization.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile facilitator.
- Proven experience working with HR systems, preferably Workday HCM.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid models).
- Certified Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Master, or equivalent certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to influence without authority.

- Organizational and time management skills.
- Coaching and mentoring mindset.
- Adaptability and focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Workday implementations or post-production support.
- Familiarity with HR processes (hire-to-retire lifecycle).
- Experience with Agile tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Background in large, complex, or public sector organizations.
