Project Manager, Product Development
Full-Time, On-Site | Portland, ME
Overview
We’re looking for a high-performing Project Manager to bring structure, ownership, and momentum to product development at Marin.
Working at the intersection of Product, Operations, and Marketing, you'll own the Stage Gate process across all product initiatives - from new skincare innovations to flavor extensions to limited-edition merchandising - maintaining timelines, coordinating stakeholders, aligning resources, driving accountability, optimizing processes and proactively solving roadblocks to keep projects moving forward.
This is an execution-focused role, perfect for someone with a strong ownership mentality and bias for action who is highly organized, detail-oriented, thinks in process, leads with ego-less curiosity, and thrives in fast-paced environments where systems are still being built.
At the end of the day, you’re the linchpin that owns the execution engine behind product development - guiding breakthrough innovations from idea and to market
What You’ll Do
Product Roadmap & Stage Gate Management
- Own Marin's Stage Gate process across all active product initiatives, ensuring projects move efficiently from concept through launch.
- Maintain updated roadmaps with clear status visibility on a daily basis, tracking key milestones across formulation, sourcing, testing, manufacturing, and launch readiness.
- Run weekly product development meetings that align around timelines, fostering positive accountability, follow-through and galvanizing the Product team into radical, clear action.
- Act as “Chief Reminder Officer” - Ensuring stakeholder clarity on priorities and timelines to deliver on-time and advance projects through each stage of development.
- Proactively identify bottlenecks, gaps, and opportunities to accelerate progress while maintaining quality and alignment.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Orchestrate contractor manufacturers, formulation partners, testing labs, packaging suppliers, fragrance houses, consultants and other external development partners across product development projects.
- Steward sourcing initiatives: Primary packaging (tubes, jars, pumps) secondary packaging (boxes, cartons, kits), componentry, samples, merch and more.
- Facilitate internal and extension product testing - from internal team to Marin customer panels, to 3rd party testing and clinical studies.
- Work in-step with the marketing and operations teams to liaise the evolution from product development to launch preparation, ensuring continued timeline ownership, key material and information hand-off, and seamless transition to nail 10/10 launches.
Process Build, Optimize & Execute
- Build processes, systems, trackers, SOPs, and documentation that support scalable execution and increase “hit-rate” of great ideas becoming successful launches.
- Establish clear workflows, decision-making processes, and communication channels that help teams move faster with greater confidence and alignment.
- Anticipate gaps, risks, and inefficiencies before they become roadblocks, proactively implementing solutions that improve outcome - always evaluating workflows to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, communication, and speed.
- Serve as the builder, and operator, of the systems that keep people aligned, projects advancing, and product development operating at a continuously higher level.
About You
- Constantly thinks about how to move projects forward, brings a bias for action and exceptional follow-through - a true intrapreneur.
- Is highly organized in documentation, processes, communication, and project tracking - naturally creates structured clarity in ambiguous situations.
- A natural organizer that easily juggles multiple complex projects without overwhelm, balancing flexibility and evolving priorities with accountability and outcomes.
- Is a strong, confident, and empathetic communicator who can work effectively across many personalities and functions.
- A driven, coachable self-starter with a great sense of humor, who’s as confidently ambitious as thoughtfully humble - ready to learn, grow and enjoy the ride.
- Brings an ego-less, “anything is figureoutable” and “anything is possible” mentality, fueled by curiosity and humility - comfortable being wrong, eager to learn, and relentlessly focused on helping the team succeed.
