The Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) seeks candidates for a full-time Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative, operational, and organizational support across the Foundation. Based in Augusta, Maine, MeHAF is one of the state’s largest private health care foundations. The Executive Assistant plays a vital role in advancing the Foundation’s mission of promoting access to quality health care, especially for those who are uninsured and underserved, and improving the health of everyone in Maine by ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Foundation’s administrative, operational, and executive functions. MeHAF is governed by a statewide Board of Trustees, is informed by a statewide Community Advisory Committee (CAC), and has a staff of 11.
Position Details: The Executive Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring MeHAF’s effective and efficient operations by coordinating office administrative functions, procedures, and resources. Serving as the primary administrative support to the executive team, the Executive Assistant also supports the work of the Board of Trustees and Standing Committees, helping to ensure seamless organizational operations.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. They bring strong administrative, communication, and project management skills, along with the ability to proactively manage multiple priorities with discretion, sound judgment, and minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have experience supporting senior leaders, coordinating board and committee activities, managing office operations, overseeing meetings and events, and arranging travel for executive leadership. They will demonstrate proficiency with technology and business software applications, strong records management skills, and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and responsiveness.
Qualifications: The position requires seven to ten years of highly relevant experience and/or education, with demonstrated success in a mission-driven environment and in collaborating effectively with a wide range of people, including senior leadership, staff at all levels, boards, and external partners. Experience in office management, calendar coordination, and meeting and event planning is required. Experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector is preferred.

The MeHAF office is located in Augusta, and all employees are expected to live in Maine. We operate in a hybrid mode, with staff generally present in our Augusta office on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the flexibility to work in the office or remotely for the remainder of the week. This allows an individual who enjoys and embraces a mix of working collaboratively with others as part of a team and engaging in self-directed, independent work to thrive. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance, as well as an employer-sponsored 401(k) retirement account with up to a 7% employer contribution. The starting salary range for this position is approximately $71,000 - $79,000, depending on experience.
