We are seeking a Technical Manufacturing Chemist I to join our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit in Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will produce materials used in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests while supporting manufacturing operations, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Summary
The Technical Manufacturing Chemist I is responsible for manufacturing critical and non-critical bioreagents used in diagnostic products and processes. This position supports production schedules, performs quality control testing, maintains compliance with GMP/GLP standards, and contributes to process improvements in a regulated laboratory manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain manufacturing production schedules.
- Manufacture critical and non-critical bioreagents according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform in-process quality control testing, including qualifications, inspections, and titrations.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Investigate production issues and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Develop, create, and execute protocols focused on product and process enhancement.
- Follow established laboratory procedures and safety requirements.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities within a team environment to ensure uninterrupted production and bioreagent supply.
- Document manufacturing activities accurately and maintain required records.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and raw material availability to support production demands.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Technical Skills & Experience
Experience with the following laboratory techniques and equipment is preferred:
- Pipetting techniques
- Spectrophotometry
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- pH meter operation
- Gel Electrophoresis
- SDS-PAGE
- ELISA assays
