The Town of Bar Harbor and Mount Desert have an opening for a full-time dispatcher.
Duties include a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical work in receiving, recording, and dispatching routine and emergency information, to include keeping official records of said information. Dispatchers assist in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the dispatch center. Dispatchers receive all oral communications from the public, fire, rescue, and law enforcement personnel coming into the police station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be thoroughly familiar with the Police Department’s policies and procedures and the rules of the Federal Communications Commission relating to use of radio and other communication equipment.
Utilize proper radio technique and etiquette, to include no “mic clicking.”
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the location and layout of streets, buildings, parks, neighborhoods, and other significant areas of the community so as to maximize the accuracy and speed of dispatches.
Maintain a working knowledge of online resources that could aid in the accuracy and speed of arrival by dispatched units, such as the Tax Assessor’s online database and Google Earth.

Pay: $29.91 - $40.48 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
