Independent Restaurant Supply is looking for a reliable, motivated Delivery & Equipment Installation Driver to join our team.
This is not a traditional route delivery position. Our delivery schedule changes from day to day and sometimes throughout the day based on customer needs. This is a hands-on position involving the delivery, moving, assembly, setup, and placement of commercial restaurant equipment.
You'll work directly with customers and our team to figure out how to safely get equipment where it needs to go. Sometimes through tight doorways, stairs, busy kitchens, and other challenging locations. When you're not on deliveries, you'll help with warehouse operations and keeping our inventory and equipment organized and tidy.
What You'll Do
Drive a 26’ box truck to customer locations throughout the area
Work from a changing daily delivery schedule rather than a fixed route
Load, secure, transport, and unload commercial restaurant equipment and supplies
Navigate stairs, tight spaces, doorways, kitchens, and other challenging delivery situations
Prioritize safety of yourself and others
Uncrate equipment and perform basic assembly and setup
Work directly with customers to make sure equipment is delivered and placed correctly
Communicate with management throughout the day as schedules and delivery needs change
Use Google Calendar to keep track of scheduled jobs and changes
Help receive, move, and organize inventory when not making deliveries
Keep the warehouse, delivery equipment, and company vehicles clean and organized
Work as part of a team to solve the practical challenges that come with equipment deliveries
Physical Requirements
This is a very physically active job, not primarily a driving position.
You must be comfortable with:
Frequent heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Handling large, heavy, and awkward equipment
Spending significant portions of the day on your feet
Bending, reaching, maneuvering equipment, and working in tight spaces
Working with another team member to move equipment that cannot be handled by one person in a safe and efficient manner
What We're Looking For
Valid driver's license and good driving record
Valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain one
Experience driving a box truck
Dependable and comfortable working in a job where every day may be different
Able to follow direction and adapt when schedules or delivery plans change
Professional and comfortable interacting directly with customers
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Organized and willing to help with warehouse work between deliveries
Comfortable using Google Calendar
Mechanical aptitude or experience assembling/installing equipment is a plus
Commercial kitchen, appliance delivery, furniture delivery, moving, construction, warehouse, or similar hands-on experience is a plus
