ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:
As a Security Architect Manager, you will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and play a key leadership role in driving MaineIT’s cybersecurity strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive security architecture that ensures the protection of the State’s critical information assets while adapting to new security challenges. You will lead a team of security architects and engineers, providing strategic direction and technical expertise to strengthen the State’s cybersecurity infrastructure. As a manager, you will oversee the development and integration of security measures into all technology initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and alignment with business goals. This role demands a deep technical understanding of cybersecurity architecture as well as the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively across teams. You will mentor your team, collaborate with various departments, and serve as a trusted advisor to the CISO, guiding the State’s long-term security roadmap.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Team Leadership: Oversee a team of security architects, providing mentorship, performance management, and direction to ensure the successful execution of security initiatives.
- Develop and Manage Security Architecture: Lead the creation and management of a scalable, flexible security architecture that aligns with best practices, addressing both current and emerging cybersecurity threats.
- Security Integration Management: Manage the integration of security tools and solutions across various platforms, ensuring seamless operation and ongoing security improvements.
- Project Leadership and Security Guidance: Provide expert security guidance throughout all phases of technology projects, ensuring that cybersecurity is incorporated from initial planning to final implementation.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with departments across the State to integrate security solutions that support business needs while safeguarding critical assets.
- Vendor Security Reviews: Conduct thorough security assessments and regular audits of third-party vendors that handle State of Maine data, ensuring they meet the State's security standards and compliance requirements. Maintain ongoing assurance of vendor security practices to mitigate risks associated with external data handling.
- Collaborate with GRC and SOC Teams: Work closely with the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) section to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance, while partnering with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to lead incident response efforts and drive continuous improvement in the State’s cybersecurity posture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or similar).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role overseeing security architecture and strategy.
