We seek a compassionate and experienced Clinical Counselor to provide individual and group counseling services, crisis intervention, and referrals for our student body. This is an excellent opportunity for a mental health professional passionate about supporting students' emotional well-being in a creative environment.
This is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week during the academic year (mid-August to Mid-May)
Position Overview
The Clinical Counselor is essential in supporting student mental health at the college. You will work closely with students to provide individual and group counseling services, respond to crises, and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being. This part-time role offers 20 hours per week during the academic year (mid-August to mid-May).
Key Responsibilities
Provide confidential counseling services to students, both individually and in groups.
Collaborate with the Mental Health Counselor to support students experiencing emotional crises and refer to external mental health providers when necessary.
Develop and implement personalized counseling plans for individual students.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation of counseling sessions in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
Offer regular office hours for both scheduled and drop-in appointments.
Attend supervision and team meetings, training, and development opportunities related to counseling and student mental health.
Track and report data on student engagement and mental health trends to help improve services.
What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
Active licensure as a mental health professional in Maine, in good standing.
At least one year of relevant experience in counseling or mental health support (preferred).
Experience working with diverse populations, including students from varied cultural, economic, and social backgrounds.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.
