Responsibilities
The Director of Advanced Manufacturing Training is responsible for building relationships with defense industry manufacturers in Maine to create responsive and flexible training programs focused on the Manufacturing 4.0 standards. This will be accomplished by collaborating with SMCC Faculty in Precision Manufacturing and Pre-Engineering, SMCC Workforce Development administration and staff and in partnership with the Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of Maine. Other responsibilities will include developing short-term, certificate awarding credentials and some teaching. This is mostly an administrative position, grant funded for 2 years with the prospect of an additional 2-3 years
depending on meeting grant targets and continued funding. These duties will require a highly-skilled technician with grant management experience, budgeting, curriculum design in manufacturing, teaching, data and narrative reporting and a strong ability to function in a high stress arena. Must be able to work in a team environment and independently when needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing in the defense industry in Maine or similarly related field.
10+ years of experience in training and development in a related field or higher education.
Grant management experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related field with over 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business, Technical Education or related field.
