Bison Transport USA is currently looking to add a Claims Manager to it's growing team!
This person will oversee the activities related to handling and processing of insurance claims for the organization related to accidents, injuries, and workers compensation. They will act as a liaison officer between the organization, insurance providers, and policyholders. They will play a key role in working with insurance carrier to support investigating and settling claims in accordance with carrier liability rules, regulations, and contracts to the company’s transportation partners. This position includes on-call availability requirements to receive reports and direct response to advanced or involved injuries/accidents/injuries.
Accident Claims Management:
- Investigate claims to determine coverage liability and damages.
- Evaluate vehicle and cargo damages, including total loss vehicles.
- Secure police reports and conduct investigations.
- Verify and assess damages while properly managing expenses.
- Identify third-party contribution while instructing, monitoring, and working with outside adjusters and vendors.
Accident Reporting:
- Manage the execution of accident response measures as mandated by policy and procedures and/or as directed by the Safety Director.
- Assist in accident scene control, post-accident drug and alcohol testing, and vehicle recovery.
- Conduct post-accident and post-injury investigations; root cause analysis; and ensure proper completion of required documentation and reporting to the proper agencies.
- Assist and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Worker’s Compensation Claims Management:
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting worker’s compensation practices and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Plan and conduct frequent reviews of individual employee worker’s compensation claims to ensure payments are being processed and paid in a timely manner, and all related case materials are in the appropriate files.
Documentation & Reporting:
Ensure thorough and relevant documentation and reporting is achieved such as, but not limited to:
- Incident detail report
- Monitor National Interstate Spreadsheet
- Recording accident information in program
- Trend reports
Safety Counseling:
Counsel drivers within one-on-one interviews regarding safety issues. This includes:
- Researching and developing countermeasures to accidents, violations, and inspection failures for use by drivers.
- Being a resource for up-to-date regulatory knowledge and information.
What Will You Need to Succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Required: 1-2 years claims management experience (Heavy truck claims class-A preferred)
- Minimum 1 year subrogation handling experience preferred.
- Transportation industry knowledge and experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT and OSHA.
- Ability to work in multi-task environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation skills.
