Job Description:
This is structure and craft work in welding and the fabrication, modification, maintenance and repair of a variety of metal objects, fixtures, heavy vehicles/equipment, and industrial scale equipment associated with construction related jobs. Work involves construction design, assembly, repair, and maintenance of a variety of metal materials and equipment. Duties include fabricating structures from blueprints and sketches, operating heavy vehicles and construction equipment, and providing oversight to others engaged in performing welding duties. Work is performed under general supervision. Preference will be given to individuals who possess welding/fabrication experience on heavy construction vehicles.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Two (2) years experience, education, and/or training in welding, metal fabrication, and/or related field which provides a basic knowledge of metallurgical science, blueprint interpretation, programing and operation of computer-controlled machines, welding techniques, and joining methods.
Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:
Must obtain a State of Maine Class B CDL with air endorsements and pass the MaineDOT Welder Certification as a condition of successfully completing probation.
