The position will provide office and administrative work in support of the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR) and its Director ensuring that OPOR and its licensing entities are able to meet their operational and processing needs; assist with administrative functions related to licensing, complaint processing; legislative support; customer service, procurement and revenue processing; and assist with other responsiblites as assigned.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide administrative support to the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation, OPOR director and board managers.
- Support the agency by providing excellent customer service to the public such as answering phones and written communications.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, licensing and document management software
- Support the agency with procurement and expense processing
- Support the agency with scheduling and reporting
- Support the agency with legislative tracking
- Develop and recommend new work methods and administrative policies/procedures to improve work practices
- Maintain open lines of communication with management to ensure administrative needs are met

- Ability to use independent judgement, initiative and decision making on complex administrative matters
- Ability to conduct research, gather information, and analyze results to reach a conclusion and/or make recommendations

- Ability to initiate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate administrative activities
- Ability to effectively plan and adjust work operations to meet planned and unexpected changes

Minimum qualifications:
Training, education, or experience in administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks at the statewide level that are broad in scope or functionally diverse, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and decision making on complex administrative matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I, Office Associate II and Office Specialist I.
Preference will be given to those applicants:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience using Advantage, ALMS and DocuWare applications.
