The School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) at the University of New England invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in digital arts, digital media arts, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will join an energetic, dedicated, and highly productive school and contribute in ways that prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital landscape that includes emerging technologies such as AI. They will advance a program of creative and/or scholarly work in their field and teach introductory and advanced courses as assigned. The anticipated start date for this position is August 10, 2026.
The SAH offers undergraduate programs in art and design media, communications and media arts, and humanities. The teaching load will include assignments in introductory and advanced art, design, and media courses. The successful candidate will also be prepared to teach the university’s required First Year Seminar class.
Along with teaching, the successful hire will continue to advance a recognized and established portfolio of creative and scholarly work in their professional field.

Responsibilities
The school seeks candidates who will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, and service missions of the institution. The successful candidate will teach courses in the digital media arts, making important contributions to two majors (art and design media and communications and media arts), a set of related minor programs of study, and the undergraduate general education curriculum. Likely courses include graphic design, UX/UI, digital illustration, animation, and other classes connected to student interest and the individual’s expertise. The expected teaching load is 9 credits (3 courses) per semester. The eventual hire will advance a program of relevant creative and/or scholarly work commensurate with standards set by the school, college, and university. They will engage students in high-impact practices such as exhibitions and conferences. They will also contribute to curriculum development, academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment and service to the school, college, and university.
Qualifications
A terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in digital arts, digital media arts, or a closely related field is required. Undergraduate teaching experience in the digital arts, readiness to teach First Year Seminar courses, and the potential to develop a successful program of creative and/or scholarly work are also required.
