Underground Utility Foreman / Equipment Operator
Electric Light Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator / Foreman to join our growing team. We specialize in traffic signal systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and roadway lighting installation and maintenance throughout Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators and dump trucks.
- Lead and supervise field crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
- Coordinate daily construction activities including site preparation, conduit/pull box installation, grading, material handling, and precast foundation work
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure operational reliability and safety compliance
- Promote and enforce company safety standards and environmental regulations on all job sites
- Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and crew members regarding project progress and scheduling
- Maintain accurate equipment logs, maintenance records, and daily operational reports
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues and coordinating repairs when needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment in a utility or roadway construction environment
- Experience with conduit installation, pull boxes, precast foundations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage crews and maintain productivity
- Clean driving record
- Familiarity with Kubota excavators or similar equipment is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
Preferred Certifications
- Valid Class A CDL (Not Required)
- NCCCO Crane Certification (Not Required)
- 2A/1B Hoisting License (Not Required)
