Job Summary
The part-time, on call Groundskeeper is responsible for snow Removal/shoveler working independently and as a team member to de-icing and clear off snow from walkways, thresholds, and other areas, as needed, on the Bowdoin College campus.
We are looking for someone who is able to work as efficiently as possible, promote worksite safety, provide excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship. Applicants must be able to work on-call, as needed, during storms when there is more than one inch of snow to clear. This is a great crew and team to work with—come and join us for the winter!
- Pay rate: $20.00/hour (This role is eligible for emergency pay during college specified winter emergencies).
Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- This role will require a criminal background check and a physical assessment as part of pre-employment processing.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
- Must be knowledgeable on how to shovel, de-ice, sand, and salt walk-ways and roads on campus
Preferred:
- Operating snow removal equipment is a plus!

Standard Work Days and Hours
- This is a casual, part-time, non-benefits eligible position.
- Employees must be available to work on-call during winter storms when there is more than one inch of snow on the ground. Hours will vary depending on winter storms.
- Employees may be scheduled to work up to 19 hours/per week
