Vision Statement: 317 Main Community Music Center is widely recognized as an excellent center for the instruction and performance of traditional acoustic music. The Marketing/Communications Manager reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and focuses 100 percent of their time supporting the development and implementation of marketing and communications tasks, activities, and materials designed to promote 317 program offerings, including music education programs, events, development activities and/or other activities to support 317 Main’s mission.
This position is 20 hours per week, with much of that being nights and weekends attending events.
The Primary Marketing/Communications Responsibilities Include:
- Work under the guidance of the Director of Marketing & Communications to support 317 Program staff with the development of written and visual/multimedia stories to be used for 317’s social media, email and website that promote awareness about our programs and events and advance our mission
- Answer general questions from all communication streams
- Manage and organize media in G Suite and DropBox
- Manage and update 317 Main website content, calendar, and monitor analytics
- Maintain 317 Main email communications lists both internal and external
- Work with Program Directors to maintain Staff, Board, and Teaching Artist bios and photos
- Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications with online campaign support material for efforts such as the Annual Fund, Capital Campaigns, Giving Tuesday, online appeals, and 317 Day when needed
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to maintain indoor and outdoor visual marketing content
- Assist with merchandise design and sales promotion
- Assist in creation of marketing materials for programs and events. Act as additional support for Events Manager
- Help to build relationships with media that will lead to news coverage
- Create art and graphics including ads, banners and flyers. Manage distribution of marketing materials online and in the community
- Attend 317 Main events to capture photo and video collateral
Specific tasks in addition to those listed above may, from time to time, be assigned and prioritized by 317 based on need.
Qualifications
- At least two years of marketing and communications experience including knowledge and familiarity of social media platforms, graphics programs, and website maintenance
- GED; BA preferred
- Photography experience a plus
- Social media platform experience
- Knowledge and some experience with database (ie., Little Green Light, JackRabbit) and project management systems, spreadsheets and word processing software
- Interest/ambition in learning and wanting to grow within non-profit development team environment
- Layout design experience (i.e. Canva, In-Design)
- Friendly, enthusiastic, outgoing, self-starter
- Good people skills; experience working with teams and able to take direction and guidance, working with multiple people, and willing to ask questions or seek clarification early on in the process

Compensation And Benefits
The hourly range is $22-$23.50. The Marketing Manager is eligible for 317 Main’s Retirement Program (after one year of employment); paid time off; and discounted program tuition for you and your immediate family.
