Job Description:
This is a highly specialized Utility Coordinator Senior Technician position. The Utility Coordinator is involved with planning and performing construction coordination between contractors, utility companies and railroads primarily for the MaineDOT Highway Program, but may include Bridge, Multi-Modal and Maintenance unit projects.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring consistent statewide policies and standards,
- Working closely with the Utility Engineer, other Utility Coordinators and the Project Managers,
- Coordinating project schedules with priorities for utility company resources to ensure the timely adjustment and relocation of utility, railroad and municipal facilities within the State's right of way,
- Working with utility companies to locate utilities and plans and schedules necessary adjustments and relocations,
- Coordinating work within railroad right-of-ways,
- Coordinating meetings between utility companies, contractors, railroads, Department personnel and other stakeholders involved with the projects,
- Developing agreements with utilities, railroads and municipalities, and,
- Serving as the utility and railroad team member on assigned projects.
Preference will be given to those with experience with the location and relocation of public services infrastructure. Statewide travel is also required.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Eight (8) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and four (4) years of engineering experience -OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and six (6) years of experience in engineering.
