Attention job seekers with a background in occupational health.We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as an Occupational Health Specialist. Responsibilities include providing on-site consultations and trainings to various industries and conducting complex occupational health hazard investigations. Work is performed under limited supervision. State-wide travel is required.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Collects and analyzes information regarding industrial processes in order to identify potential health hazards.
- Visits industries in order to gather samples and measure environmental hazards in work areas.
- Assists other field staff to ensure work is accomplished properly and applicable Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines are followed.
- Analyzes instrument readings and test reports in order to identify and evaluate environmental health hazards.
- Advises other State agencies in order to provide information on hazardous materials, toxic substances, and consumer product safety.
- Collects and compiles statistical data and prepares reports in order to provide information to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Prepares and presents instruction in order to train others in OSHA standards and regulations.

Minimum qualifications:
A Bachelors Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Chemistry, or related science and two (2) years specialized experience in a chemical, environmental, or related industrial hygiene field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
