Job Title: Statewide Cybersecurity Coordinator
Job Summary: The Statewide Cybersecurity Coordinator is a critical role designed to enhance
cybersecurity coordination and outreach across local governments and statewide partners. This
position will focus on creating and maintaining a consistent approach to cybersecurity
awareness, readiness, and best practices at various government levels and affiliated
organizations throughout the state. The role addresses significant vulnerabilities by providing
much-needed resources, knowledge, and support to local governments and other entities that
may lack the capacity to implement effective cybersecurity measures independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver educational materials, workshops, and outreach programs tailored
to different levels of cybersecurity understanding and readiness across local
governments and statewide partners.
Coordinate statewide cybersecurity efforts, ensuring alignment and collaboration among
all stakeholders to achieve common cybersecurity goals.
Advocate for and promote the adoption of cybersecurity best practices across local
governments and organizations, leveraging resources such as the State and Local
Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP).
Identify gaps in cybersecurity resources among local governments and propose strategic
changes to enhance their cybersecurity posture.
Lead strategic planning and foster collaborative relationships with federal partners, state
agencies, local governments, industry associations, and community groups to develop
and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity outreach strategy.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in roles involving strategic planning, project management, or
coordination of large-scale initiatives, ideally with a focus on cybersecurity or public
sector projects.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Public Administration, or a
related field is required.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly desirable, and
candidates with certifications will be given preference.
Experience with federal programs, particularly in managing or working with federal
grants or funding programs related to cybersecurity, is beneficial.

Cybersecurity Expertise: Understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices,
and current threats. Ability to apply this knowledge to develop effective strategies for
various levels of government

multiple initiatives simultaneously, manage resources effectively, and meet deadlines.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to
create clear, concise educational materials and present complex information to diverse
audiences.
Collaboration: Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide range
of stakeholders, including federal partners, state agencies, local governments, and
community organizations.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify
vulnerabilities, assess risks, and propose strategic solutions to enhance cybersecurity.
Leadership: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive statewide initiatives,
ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and working towards common cybersecurity
goals.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving cybersecurity challenges and quickly adjust
strategies and plans to address emerging threats.

Work Environment & Travel Requirements: While the position is primarily remote, there will
be a need for in-person attendance at meetings and events, as well as occasional travel to
various locations across Maine. The selected candidate should be prepared to travel as needed
to effectively coordinate cybersecurity efforts and engage with stakeholders statewide.

Must have some state\municipality\local government experience. Emergency Management Experience also a plus.
