- Position Summary
- Under supervision of Operating Room Manager and following established procedures, assists with the care of the patient in the Operating Room by transporting and lifting/positioning for surgery.
- Cleaning and assisting in Operating Room turnovers and by performing general errands as required by team leader and charge nurses. Maintains general cleanliness and maintenance of the department.
- Opportunity for advancement to Level II after 6 months.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred with two years of work experience.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: N/A
- Ability to anticipate, prioritize and coordinate work in a high stress, fast paced environment required.
- Involves responding to emergency situations and tight schedules
- Read, write and understand well enough to perform duties effectively. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously with patients, co workers, diverse group of O.R. personnel and multiple nursing unit personnel.
- Basic computer knowledge preferred.
- Willingness to work on rotating schedule.
- Requires 3 to 6 weeks of on the job training in order to become familiar with:
- Physical plant and operating room procedures including
- Principals of asepsis
- Operation of OR beds and equipment
- Case cart checking procedures
- Names of surgical instruments and equipment
- Safe handling of oxygen tanks
