Position: Production Supervisor
Business Unit: Infectious Disease Developed Markets
Location: Scarborough, Maine
Role Overview:
The Production Supervisor will manage all aspects of multiple functional areas within the ARDx Biologics Production unit. This position is responsible for the performance of all functional areas and staff, ensuring alignment with organizational expectations and consistently producing high-quality finished goods for other Abbott business units/divisions, which are subsequently used in downstream Abbott manufacturing of IVD products.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
-
Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external production needs, such as the planning production build plan.

Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations based on production schedules, and requisition materials from storage areas.

Approve work and give area clearances. Create SOPs, batch records, etc.

Interpret SOPs, specifications, templates, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.

Plan the flow of materials through the department and develop the physical layout of processes.

Interface with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.

Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.

Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.

Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.

Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.

Maintain time and production records.

Assist in developing capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.

Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
-
Directly supervise employees in the Production Department, nights or days. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and Experience You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

Experience with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement processes.

4+ years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge of manufacturing planning and documentation systems.

Experience in a federally regulated environment preferred; knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality standards preferred.

Ability or aptitude to work on problems that are complex in scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing priorities.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
