Job Summary
The ideal candidate in this role will work with the staff engineers to conduct experiments in the hydraulics lab and ensure that equipment is safe to operate and properly calibrated.
Job Responsibilities
- Build full scale hydraulic prototype models using piping, rigging and fabrication techniques
- Laboratory and field testing, verification, validation and demonstration of products and concepts
- Maintenance, repairs and calibration of test rigs, instruments, measuring equipment, etc.
- Maintenance of records including calibration, testing and R&D projects
- Ensure proper safety procedures, equipment, and personal protective equipment is used while performing job duties
- Monitor lab supplies and recommend purchases as required
- Maintain clean lab working area after completion of job tasks and dispose of debris properly
- Consult with facility users and advise on the feasibility of planned activities
- Determine lab needs e.g. equipment, tools, etc. and provide engineering staff with appropriate information and recommendations for improvements.
- Work in conformance with Company Policies and Procedures
- Apply requirements of the BS EN ISO 9001 as appropriate within the areas of responsibility
- Responsible for the Health, Safety and Environment aspects affecting self, employees and projects in your control
Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Ability to work with general tools and build prototypes with minimal supervision
- General knowledge of lifting and loading techniques
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Able to perform laboratory tasks using developed standard procedures
- Ability to multitask and run two or more projects at a time
- Ability to stand for long periods of time with regular stretch breaks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
