Sanford Middle School Is Seeking Two Dynamic And Student-centered Educators To Join Our Grade 6 Team For The 2026–2027 School Year. We Have Two Openings
- Grade 6 Mathematics Teacher
- Grade 6 English Language Arts Teacher
Both positions may include teaching one block of Social Studies as part of a collaborative team structure.
Position Overview
Mathematics Teacher:
The selected candidate will primarily teach Grade 6 mathematics using the
Reveal Math Program (Glencoe). The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction while supporting students in developing strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
English Language Arts Teacher
The selected candidate will primarily teach Grade 6 ELA with a curriculum focus on
character studies and non-fiction research. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading and writing while helping students build analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards
- Build positive, supportive relationships with middle-level learners
- Create a structured classroom environment with effective management practices
- Collaborate with grade-level team members to support student success
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Utilize data to inform instruction and support student growth
Qualifications
- Valid Maine Teaching Certificate (020 – Elementary) or eligibility to obtain certification (or comparable endorsement)
- Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) fingerprinting
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Passion for working with middle school students
