Fox & Birdie Café is hiring a Barista & Café Team Member to support both our coffee service and fresh food offerings. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in quality, consistency, and cleanliness.
This position goes beyond a traditional barista or kitchen role. You will be responsible for preparing both espresso-based beverages and fresh, quick counter-service food including smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and more.
Important: This is not a single-focus position. Due to seasonal staffing and volume shifts, there are times when one person runs the full shift. The ideal candidate must be confident and capable in both coffee and food execution.
You will work closely with the Café Manager and team to ensure smooth daily operations and a great guest experience.
Responsibilities
Coffee
Prepare espresso-based drinks with consistency and quality
Steam milk and maintain drink standards
Keep the cafe clean, stocked, and organized
Food & Prep
Prepare smoothies, juices, and café food items
Assemble breakfast sandwiches and light food quickly and accurately
Complete daily prep of fresh ingredients to ensure the café is fully stocked and ready for service
Maintain clean and organized prep stations
General Duties
Keep work areas clean and follow food safety standards
Restock items as needed throughout the shift
Support both coffee and food service during busy periods
Help maintain a smooth and efficient workflow
Qualifications
Required
1–2+ years of café, barista, kitchen, or customer service experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to lead, train, and hold standards on your primary side
Ability to execute on the other side of the café consistently during service
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Ability to stand for 8+ hours
Ability to lift/carry 40+ lbs
Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset and professionalism under pressure
Preferred
Barista or espresso experience
Latte art proficiency or beverage menu development
Food prep or kitchen experience
Smoothie / juice bar or breakfast line experience
Pastry or baking experience
Grinder/espresso machine maintenance experience
Management experience
ServSafe or Food Handler Certification
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour (based on experience)
