We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Cannabis Compliance & Licensing Specialist to oversee licensing renewals, maintain regulatory compliance, and help ensure our operations remain aligned with evolving state and local regulations. Prior cannabis compliance experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates professionalism, exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Position Summary
The Cannabis Compliance & Licensing Specialist will be responsible for managing company licensing requirements across multiple facilities and departments while supporting ongoing compliance efforts for both medical and adult-use cannabis operations in Maine. This role requires someone who is extremely organized, highly detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple deadlines simultaneously, and comfortable working with complex regulations and documentation. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and able to maintain accurate records across many moving parts of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Licensing & Regulatory Management
· Manage and track renewals for all required licenses and permits
· Maintain highly organized records of all licenses, applications, renewals, inspections, and compliance documentation
· Develop and maintain systems for tracking deadlines, renewals, inspections, and reporting requirements
· Coordinate with state agencies, municipalities, and third-party vendors regarding licensing matters
· Ensure all applications, renewals, and compliance documents are submitted accurately and on time
Cannabis Compliance
· Learn and maintain working knowledge of Maine cannabis laws and regulations for both medical and adult-use operations
· Assist with compliance related to packaging, labeling, retail operations, facility requirements, manufacturing, and beverage production
· Conduct internal compliance checks and identify areas for improvement
· Assist with creating, updating, and organizing SOPs and compliance documentation
· Help maintain compliance readiness for inspections and audits
Legislative & Industry Monitoring
· Monitor changes in Maine cannabis legislation, proposed bills, and rule changes that may impact company operations
· Provide management with updates regarding regulatory changes and potential operational impacts
· Research emerging compliance trends and industry best practices
Qualifications
· Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail
· Strong ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Professional, dependable, and self-motivated
· Comfortable learning and interpreting regulations and compliance requirements
· Strong recordkeeping and documentation skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
· Ability to travel occasionally between company locations in Maine
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in cannabis compliance, licensing, regulatory affairs, or administrative management
· Familiarity with Maine cannabis regulations
· Experience working with government agencies or licensing processes
· Knowledge of METRC or cannabis tracking systems is a plus
