NRF Distributors is seeking a detail-orientated Controller to join our Accounting team! Primary responsibilities within this role would include providing direct leadership to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and Staff Accountants, oversee the monthly closing process, prepare financial statements, handle cash management, maintain the financial records of related LLCs, and ensure that all financial activities are consistent with GAAP. The successful candidate would additionally interact with company non-financial management and staff, serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and banking representatives, as well as assist the SR. VP of Finance as needed.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a BS Degree in Finance or Accounting (CPA preferred), intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Macola accounting software, F9 financial reporting software, Crystal, FRx, or similar products), sales tax knowledge, wholesale accounting experience, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8am-5pm.
The successful candidate in this role would be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Developing a professional staff through proper selection, training, supervision, and motivation.
- Leading the day-to-day accounting operations of the company.
- Leading the monthly and annual accounting process to ensure consistency with GAAP and accuracy of the information.
- Preparing weekly/daily cash flow analysis and preparing weekly/monthly asset-based loan availability reports.
- Overseeing the preparation and filing of sales tax activity.
- Working closely with non-financial department managers to ensure accuracy of subsystem financial activity.
- Monitoring and accurately accounting for vendor and customer rebate programs.
- Responsible for calculating and recording commissions and other sales incentives.
- Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, as well as implementing a system of controls to minimize financial risk.
- Seeing through the implementation and completion of special projects assigned by the Sr. VP of Finance.
- Acting as the point person for the company on external audits, including the coordination of financial information and providing appropriate perspectives to enable auditors to understand NRF's accounting systems and controls.
- Fostering, developing, teaching, and requiring safe work practices of all employees under direct supervision.
