Position Summary:The Executive Director leads LVK’s operations, programs, volunteers, staff, fundraising, finances, and community partnerships. This hands‑on role ensures strong program delivery and long‑term organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Programs: Oversee LVK Programs including: learner intake, assessments, tutor matching, and program quality.
- Strengthen volunteer engagement: Recruit volunteers, run multiple annual trainings, and maintain education partnerships
- Manage staff & operations: Supervise Administrative Assistant and consultants; ensure smooth daily operations and communications
- Oversee fundraising & finances: Coordinate grants, donor engagement, appeals, and events; manage budget and financial reporting
- Support board governance: Prepare materials, attend monthly meetings, communicate key issues, and maintain organizational calendars
Qualifications:
Required:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in nonprofit management, program leadership, education, or community-based services
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or consultants
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively
- Comfort with community outreach, relationship-building, and public representation
- Grant writing and fundraising experience
Preferred: - Experience in adult education, literacy programs or volunteer-based organizations
Work Environment & Expectations:- Hybrid work environment with in-office presence in Augusta and travel within Kennebec County
- Occasional evening commitments for board meetings and community events
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with board leadership
CompensationSalary range $40,000-45,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits and flexibility to be discussed during hiring process.
