Overview:
Varney Agency is seeking a motivated Bonding Insurance Producer to help construction and commercial clients secure the surety bonds they need for projects and licensing. This role combines financial analysis, relationship-building, and strategic market placement with top surety companies. This position may work out of any of our Maine branches including Scarborough, Auburn, Bangor or Houlton.
Key Responsibilities:

Generate new business through networking, prospecting, and industry events

Evaluate client financials, credit, and work-in-progress reports to negotiate appropriate surety program

Match clients with appropriate surety markets and prepare submissions

Provide ongoing business and financial guidance to help clients increase bonding limits

Maintain strong relationships with clients and surety underwriters

Manage program renewals and support clients through claims or disputes
Requirements:
- Active Property & Casualty license, or the ability to obtain within 90 days

10+ Years operating in the Contract Surety or Construction Industry space

Strong financial literacy, including reading balance sheets and analyzing construction-specific financial schedules

Knowledge of the local construction industry, with a focus on public works

Excellent communication, public speaking, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
